We have been serving breakfast in Canggu since 2018, and guests often ask us where else they should eat. So here is my honest list: the places I send friends to, what to order at each one, and when to go.

The best breakfast spots in Canggu are The Avocado Factory (avocado dishes from 7am near Echo Beach), Crate Cafe (opens 6am, now in Pererenan), Milk & Madu (family friendly, Rp 110k breakfast set), Brunch Club (pancakes) and Goat Father (specialty coffee and fresh pastries from 6am). The 10 best breakfast spots in Canggu
1. The Avocado Factory
Yes, this is us, so take this one with a pinch of salt. We open at 7am every day and serve breakfast until 11.30am. The Classic Benedict (Rp 85k) and the Avo Royal Croissant (Rp 95k) are what most people order on their first visit. If you came straight out of the water, the Avo Steak & Eggs (Rp 205k) is the one that actually fills you up. Lighter? The Acai Smoothie Bowl (Rp 90k) is vegan, and so is the Hummus & Avo Toast (Rp 90k).
We have gluten-free options, but our kitchen is shared, so they are not suitable if you have coeliac disease.
2. Crate Cafe
Crate is the place most people think of first for breakfast in Canggu, and the queues used to prove it. It has since moved from Padang Linjong to a new home in Pererenan, so check the map before you ride over. It opens at 6am daily, earlier than almost anyone, and is known for big breakfast plates and acai bowls at fair prices.
3. Milk & Madu
Milk & Madu is the big family favourite. Their 110K Brekky Set gives you a breakfast, a coffee and a juice for one price, which is hard to argue with. They also run a kids club and kids parties, so if you are travelling with little ones it is an easy choice.
4. Brunch Club
Brunch Club is famous for its stacked pancakes, which their menu calls “porncakes”, and for a proper big breakfast. Their Pererenan cafe is open now. The Berawa branch was listed as reopening in mid 2026, so check it is open before you head there.
5. Goat Father
Full disclosure: Goat Father is our sister venue in the Tavolo Group, just along Jl. Batu Mejan from us. It is a coffee roastery and bakery first, open from 6am, so come for freshly baked croissants and pastries, a sandwich, and a properly good flat white (with homemade almond milk if you want it).
6. Sensorium
Sensorium is on our street, run by head chef William Salim. The menu is fusion, so breakfast leans creative. The pulled pork eggs Benedict is the dish people talk about.
7. The Shady Shack
The Shady Shack is fully vegetarian and vegan, and serves breakfast all day from 8am. If everyone at your table eats plant-based, this is the easy choice.
8. Woods
Woods opens at 8am, and its menu leans toward restaurant plates like steaks and short ribs. Morning dishes include a salmon croissant, sliced avocado on toast and French toast. It suits a slower, sit-down breakfast.
9. nüde
nüde serves brunch all day and is serious about strong coffee. It is a relaxed neighbourhood cafe, good when you want breakfast at 2pm without anyone judging.
10. Revolver
Revolver started as a tiny espresso bar in Seminyak in 2012 and now roasts its own beans. Go for the coffee first. It has branches across Bali, so there is usually one close by.
When to go for breakfast in Canggu
Canggu wakes up early because of the surf. In our experience, most cafes open between 6am and 8am, and the busy window is 8.30am to 10.30am, especially on weekends. If you hate waiting, go before 8.30am or after 11am.
One thing to know: many cafes switch to a lunch menu late in the morning. At The Avocado Factory, breakfast runs from 7am to 11.30am, then the lunch menu takes over until we close at 11pm. If you want breakfast at 2pm, nüde serves brunch all day.
How much does breakfast cost in Canggu?
Plan on Rp 65,000 to Rp 120,000 for a cafe breakfast dish, plus Rp 30,000 to Rp 45,000 for a coffee. Most cafes add 10% tax and a service charge on top. Bigger plates, like a steak and eggs, cost more. A set like Milk & Madu’s Rp 110k breakfast, coffee and juice is the cheapest way to get all three.
Our honest take
If you only have one morning, come to us for avocado done properly, then head down the road to Echo Beach. If you are here for a week, work through this list. Every one of these cafes makes Canggu a better place to eat, and the competition keeps us on our toes.
