Vegan Canggu
Canggu is one of the easiest places in Bali to eat vegan. The hard part is choosing. Here are the places we would send a vegan friend, starting with what we cook ourselves.

5 places for vegan food in Canggu
1. The Avocado Factory
That is us, and we are not a fully vegan kitchen, but a good part of our menu is. For breakfast (7am to 11.30am) there is the Vegan Benedict (Rp 85k) with scrambled tofu and vegan hollandaise, the Hummus & Avo Toast (Rp 90k) and the Acai Smoothie Bowl (Rp 90k). Later in the day, try the Vegan Avo Burger (Rp 100k), the Poke Bowl (Rp 80k) or Avo Fries with vegan spicy mayo (Rp 70k). We are open until 11pm every day.
We cook meat, eggs and dairy in the same kitchen, so we cannot promise zero cross-contact. The same goes for gluten: we have gluten-free options, but they are not suitable for anyone with coeliac disease.
2. Samadi
An organic cafe serving vegan and vegetarian food. On Sundays it hosts a farmers market with local organic produce and handmade goods.
3. I Am Vegan Babe
A fully vegan cafe on Jl. Tanah Barak, known for its smoothie bowls.
4. WORD. Bali
A fully vegan hummus bar on the road down to Batu Bolong beach. The falafel shawarma is the order most people come for.
5. The Shady Shack
Fully vegetarian and vegan, open 8am to 10pm, with breakfast all day, smoothie bowls, juices and wholefood plates.

Tips for eating vegan in Canggu
- Ask about hidden ingredients. Fish sauce, shrimp paste (terasi), butter and honey turn up in dishes that look plant-based.
- Learn two words. Tanpa telur means without egg, and tanpa daging means without meat.
- Look at the label on the menu. Most Canggu cafes mark vegan dishes clearly, ours included.
- Allergies need a conversation. Shared kitchens are common, so tell the team if cross-contact matters to you.
Our honest take
If you want a kitchen that never touches animal products, go to one of the fully vegan places above. If you are eating with friends who are not vegan, come to us: there is something for everyone, and the vegan dishes are some of the best things we make.
