Where to Eat in Canggu
Canggu has more good food than any one trip can handle. We have run a restaurant here since 2018, so this is the list we give friends: where to go for breakfast, a proper burger, a sunset dinner, a romantic steak or a special-occasion omakase.

Breakfast and brunch
The Avocado Factory
That is us. Breakfast from 7am to 11.30am, then a lunch and dinner menu until 11pm, almost all of it built around avocado. Try the Avo Royal Croissant (Rp 95k) in the morning or the Avo Birria Tacos (Rp 120k) later. Gluten-free options exist, but our kitchen is shared, so they are not suitable for coeliacs.
Crate Cafe
The classic Canggu breakfast, now in Pererenan. Opens at 6am with big plates and acai bowls.
Milk & Madu
Family friendly, with a Rp 110k breakfast, coffee and juice set and live music on weekend mornings.

Coffee and bakery
Goat Father
A coffee roastery and bakery, opening early, with freshly baked croissants and pastries and specialty coffee. Close to us on Batu Mejan, and a good second stop.

Burgers and casual eats
BB52 Burgers
Craft burgers like the signature beef burger with caramelised onions, cheddar, bacon and house BBQ sauce, plus a vegan mushroom burger and house-made craft gins. The Berawa spot is open very late, which makes it a favourite after a night out.
The Shady Shack
Fully vegetarian and vegan, open 8am to 10pm, with wholefood plates, smoothies and breakfast all day.
Sunset and ocean views
Hippie Fish
Mediterranean-inspired food right on Pererenan Beach. The second-floor restaurant is air-conditioned with beach views, and the rooftop bar has a front-row view of the sunset. Book ahead for sunset.
COMO Beach Club
A beach club right at Echo Beach, handy for a sunset drink after watching the surfers.

Romantic dinners and steak
Uma Garden
A wood-fired restaurant in a semi-outdoor tropical garden among the rice fields. Everything is cooked over open flame and served to share, from Wagyu tomahawk to ember-grilled prawns. Candle-lit tables make it a great pick for a romantic dinner. Open daily from 6pm.
Woods
A calm, restaurant-style room with steaks and short ribs on the dinner menu, open until 11pm.

Our neighbours on Batu Mejan, with a creative fusion menu from head chef William Salim.
Special occasion: Japanese omakase
SHUN Omakase Counter
An 11-seat counter serving Edomae-style sushi with a modern twist, 13 to 18 courses on a menu that changes regularly. There is no menu to order from: the chef decides. Set menus start from Rp 1,600,000++, and it is open Tuesday to Sunday, 6.30pm to 11pm. Book well ahead.
Tips for eating out in Canggu
- Book for sunset and dinner. Rooftops and small counters fill up, especially at weekends.
- Expect tax and service. Most restaurants add about 10% tax plus a service charge to menu prices.
- Plan your rides. Pererenan, Berawa, Batu Bolong and Umalas are close on a map but traffic is slow in the evening.
- Ask about allergies. Shared kitchens are common, so always check if you have a serious allergy.
